How to Pop Popcorn on a Stove Top
  1. Put some oil (about 2 tablespoons) in the bottom of a large pot.
  2. Place the pot on medium-high heat.
  3. Add three kernels to the pot.
  4. When the first kernel pops remove the pot from the heat and add enough kernels to cover the bottom of the pot (about 1/2 cup).
  5. Wait 30 seconds (this gives the other kernels some time to reach the proper popping temperature).
  6. Put the lid on the pot and place back on medium-high heat.
  7. When the popcorn begins popping start shaking the pot a little until you no longer hear kernels popping.
  8. Remove from heat and enjoy!
I prefer making popcorn this way because:
  • it's less expensive than microwave popcorn,
  • it's free of additives and preservatives,
  • and, it's a lot more fun.
