- Put some vegetable oil (about 2 tbls.) in the bottom of a large pot.
- Place the pot on medium-high heat.
- Add three kernels to the pot.
- When the first kernel pops remove the pot from the heat and add enough kernels to cover the bottom of the pot (about 1/3 cup).
- Wait 30 seconds (this gives the other kernels some time to reach the proper popping temperature).
- Put the lid on the pot and place back on medium-high heat.
- When the popcorn begins popping start shaking the pot until you no longer hear kernels popping.
- Remove from heat and enjoy!
We prefer making popcorn this way because:
- it's a lot less expensive than microwave popcorn,
- it's free of additives and preservatives,
- and, it's a lot more fun.
Microwave popcorn costs about four times as much as popping your own popcorn.
